About ESEP : Background

ESEP is a broad-based, not-for-profit company with many years' experience of managing and administering Structural Fund Programmes in Scotland.

Initially set up as a partnership between the public sector, the voluntary sector and government, its board membership has now been extended to include the Scottish Chambers of Commerce.

Its principal purpose in the coming years is to manage and administer EU Structural Funds in Lowlands and Uplands Scotland, and to provide expert support to those who apply for project funding; thereby ensuring both that Scotland secures maximum benefit from the Funds and that the strategic objectives of the Funds are fully delivered.

This intermediary role includes advice to applicants, secretarial support to the Committees and other management structures, and monitoring to ensure that the physical and financial implementation of the projects complies with best practice, with Programme requirements, and importantly with the needs of the people and businesses the projects set out to help.

ESEP will continue to place central importance on maintaining the highest standards of customer care, governance, leadership and business efficiency.

The 2007-2013 Scottish Programmes have three horizontal or cross-cutting themes of equal opportunities, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion. The Scottish Programmes' approach to embedding these horizontal themes is through a twin-track approach of support for discrete projects and through addressing equal opportunities, environmental sustainability, and social inclusion issues in all projects supported by Structural Funds.
