			European Social Fund (ESF) ESF is the principal means of developing human resources and improving labour market activities throughout the European Union. The key aims are to get people back into work and to improve the career prospects of those already in work. ESF plays an important role in encouraging the integration of activities fostering equal opportunities into mainstream economic development programmes. Whilst the strategic framework for the East of Scotland does not include dedicated ESF measures, appropriate and targeted ESF actions will be delivered through the Scottish ESF Objective 3 Operational Programme for Scotland.
